“I SIT IN AN OLD RICKETY FOLDING CHAIR, CLUTCHING MY PENCILS
AND A SKETCHBOOK, WATCHING LAYERS OF LEAVES RUSTLE ON
MY GNARLY ESPALIERED APPLE TREE. HARD GREEN APPLES ARE
SPHERICAL HIGHWAYS FOR BUSY ANTS. SKELETONIZED LEAVES WERE
LAST WEEK’S BUFFET FOR RAVENOUS CATERPILLARS. CALLOUSED
FURROWED BARK SILENTLY DEFENDS THE TREE’S LIFEBLOOD.
FASCINATED BY CLOSEUP DETAILS, I REVEL IN NATURES PATTERNS,
COLORS AND STORIES; AND THIS IS MY SECRET PASSION.”

Marina Megale is a visual artist who is mystified by colors that vibrate
and magnification. She finds that gentle cropping of her subjects creates
negative space that sings. Italian and Scottish ancestry (and a mother
who was an opera singer and a fervent fisherwoman) created a love of
water, salmon and artistic endeavors.
