Linda Ballard

Every summer I set out to explore the backroads of the west.  Along the way I stop at my favorite tack shops in Montana (the Bitterroot Valley in particular).  Here I find wonderful leather tack that I put to use in my bags.  Sometimes, I  find a special treasure usually in the form of a decorative halter that I then deconstruct and use in my bags.
At this year’s show I will have a couple bags using this unique decoration.  Each bag is a one of a kind creation using vintage kilim, vintage pile carpet or other unique textile that I fashion into a sturdy, yet beautiful bag.  I use new leather and cotton duck for linings and pockets, and up cycled leather belts or tack for handles and straps.  Copper rivets secure the stress points.
I’ll also have a new supply of colorful Cleo Coats for the kids,  cashmere mittens and wool hats.  All refashioned from finest wool, merino and lambswool.
